⭐ FEATURED THIS WEEK
THE SUMMER SOUL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2026
Sunday, September 6 | 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM 📍 Charles County Fairgrounds, 8440 Fairgrounds Road, La Plata 💵 Ticketed
Fifty years of Go-Go, four of the bands that actually built it, and it's happening in our backyard. Summer Sky Entertainment is bringing Rare Essence, Junkyard Band, Backyard Band, and Northeast Groovers to the Charles County Fairgrounds for what is easily the biggest thing on the calendar this weekend.
Doors open at noon and the music runs until 8. DJ Frisco and DJ Rico are handling the sets in between, SiriusVybe's Derrick and Scooby DaGodSon are hosting, and Billy Da Kid is on the bill too. Tents are available if you want shade, and the fairgrounds give you room to spread out.
Go-Go is a D.C. sound, but the crowd for these shows has always come from all over the DMV, and Charles County has been part of that story for decades. Getting four bands of this caliber on one stage, this close to home, is not something that happens most years.
And the timing is the whole point. It's Labor Day weekend, so there's no alarm clock Monday.
🏘️ COMMUNITY & SEASONAL PICKS
Labor Day weekend, and the county decided to go all out.

If you make it out to the fairgrounds Sunday or the sunflower fields at Serenity Farm, hit reply and tell me how it went. I want to know if the Go-Go crowd showed up the way I think it will. And if you spot something happening around the county that I missed, send it my way for next week.
